And Summer Ends…

leave a comment »

Well, clearly the return to consistent blogging was short lived. But I’m ok with that.

Summer is coming to an end.

I didn’t read much. And I’m ok with that. I pride myself on being widely and well-read, and it was good for me not to read all that much this summer.

Grounds crew was a great job as far as summer jobs go. A good change up from the school year. Definitely demonstrated the holistic nature of humans in that though the job was not particularly cognitive, I was usually too physically exhausted at the end of a work day to read much.

And now there’s one week before classes start up again. A week where I am not working. Which means it’s time to read.

This week I will be re-reading books I consider to be foundational for entering a new school year.

Henri Nouwen, In the Name of Jesus

Stephen Seamands, Ministry in the Image of God

Richard Foster, Celebration of Discipline

Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Life Together

Given my prior track record, this could very well be my last blog post for 8 months.
